ABOUT TAU

Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University (CFTAU) operates with a mission to pursue the advancement of and raise awareness for Tel Aviv University (TAU) in Canada.

Tel Aviv University is a cultural, scientific and entrepreneurial hub in the heart of the startup nation.

Guided by a vision to make the world a better place, students, faculty and researchers are on the path to discovery on pressing issues in health, science, security, the arts and much more.

As Israel’s largest public institution of higher learning – government agencies, defense contractors and international corporations like IBM, Google, Microsoft and Intel regularly turn to TAU to collaborate on the next big idea from AI to state-of-the-art research services that only TAU can provide.

Consistently ranked in the top 20 in the world in terms of scientific citations and among the top 100 universities internationally, Tel Aviv University is also Israel’s first choice for students, and its graduates are the most sought after by Israeli companies.

In 2019, the Marker magazine published its list of 40 most influential people under 40 in Israel, and TAU Alumni had 12 entries. The university has been ranked 8th among the top 10 schools globally for producing successful, venture capital-backed founders of companies, in a survey of 13,000 entrepreneurs worldwide (Pitchbook 2019). TAU remains the only non-U.S. university to make the top 10.
